About Us

1108 Media is proud to present the Fredericksburg Film Festival (FFF), an annual celebration of the art of storytelling through film. We are committed to making FFF a vibrant, accessible festival that uplifts diverse voices and perspectives, ensuring that all stories are celebrated and everyone has a chance to connect with the art of film.

Our team is led by Dalton Okolo, an award-winning Nigerian-American director, writer, and producer based in Fredericksburg, VA. Known for his Virginia-based short films like She’s Mine Now (2022) and Missing You (2021). Through 1108 Media, he collaborates with Virginia-based filmmakers to create compelling narrative media, strengthening the local film community.

Dalton brings his passion for storytelling to the forefront of FFF. As the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Fredericksburg Film Festival, Dalton is committed to creating a platform where filmmakers can connect, collaborate, and share their stories.

Spotlighting Our Filmmakers

At FFF, we celebrate all aspects of the filmmaking process, honoring everyone involved—from directors and producers to actors, DPs, makeup artists, and art directors. Our filmmaker-centered approach is the cornerstone of our brand, setting us apart from most festivals. Our primary goal is to make filmmakers feel valued and appreciated through personalized experiences, exclusive events, and learning opportunities that build strong connections and foster a supportive FFF community. We’re committed to prioritizing this filmmaker-first focus to distinguish our festival and create a memorable, meaningful experience for all participants.

FFF targets filmmakers at various stages, from students to seasoned professionals, offering educational opportunities that inspire innovation and growth. Through diverse programming like panel discussions, Q&As, and networking events, we ensure all contributors feel represented. We highlight the unique journeys of each filmmaker through personalized interviews and social media spotlights, offering audiences a meaningful opportunity to connect with the creators and their work. With a special focus on Virginia-based talent, FFF amplifies regional filmmakers, providing them with a platform to share their work with wider audiences and creating valuable networking and collaboration opportunities that extend beyond the festival.

Establishing FFF as a Signature Event in Downtown Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg’s community is at the heart of the festival experience, and we are dedicated to fostering strong local engagement while supporting area businesses. To create an event that reflects the spirit of Fredericksburg, we’ve established a Community Advisory Committee of local business owners and residents, ensuring their insights shape FFF’s planning and programming. Throughout the year, we’ll host pre-festival gatherings and collaborate with local businesses to offer social events, encouraging festival-goers to explore Fredericksburg’s shops, bars, and restaurants. By inviting residents to volunteer, we’re building a welcoming team of ambassadors who will share our city’s hospitality with visitors and help the festival grow as a celebrated local event.
